Written by Ashley Shuyler of Africaid and Prisca Lesakire, an Africaid scholar, this book tells the story of two young women who grew up on different continents, in different cultures. Not only will the kids enjoy it, a portion of the proceeds will benefit Africaid and its programs for girls' education in Tanzania.

Alternatively, you can help 'end the book famine' in Africa with a donation to Books for Africa. Another way to change a life would be to give the gift of a camel (or a 'share' of a camel) to a Maasai family in Tanzania through the Heifer organization.
A new camera is always a welcome surprise for any traveller. We especially like the Panasonic DMC-FZ35 for its 18x optical zoom. It also does a nice job of basic video and has a very reasonable price tag.
